Python is a programming language that can be used to control PowerFactory. It is commonly used to automate the execution of time-consuming simulations, but its uses extend far beyond that. Python can also be used to process results, or to implement a routine that makes sequential changes to a network, calling PowerFactory’s analysis functions at each step.

This course provides a concise and efficient introduction to the fundamental aspects of writing scripts within PowerFactory using Python. The course covers basic concepts, syntax, accessing and modifying objects from within the code, automating a series of calculations and presenting the results, etc.

A number of scripts will be created during the course to inspire your own ideas or to adapt to specific requirements.

Important hint: This training will be held for PowerFactory 2025. Older versions may have a different structure in the menus or do not yet have some of the functions presented.

Licence and Material

A PowerFactory licence for the duration of the Online training course is included in this course and will be delivered a week before the first day of the training together with the training material that consists of presentations, exercises and example projects via mail. Additionally, a link is provided to download and install PowerFactory locally. An installed instance of PowerFactory in the version specified on the description page is required to participate in the training.

The training is held in Zoom.

Target Audience
