Description

Please note: Previous experience in PowerFactory basics and some experience in handling of PowerFactory time domain simulation functions, or attendance at an introductory course, is essential. The Self E-Learning course Introductory Course: Load Flow and Short Circuit Calculation, for example, can be used to acquire the necessary basic knowledge and the Introductory Course: Time Domain Simulation, can be used to acquire the necessary basic knowledge on time domain simulations.

The training introduces the participant to the tools and techniques commonly used in practice for stability studies. Single and multi-machine power systems are studied, using steady-state, time and frequency-domain techniques.

This course provides a comprehensive overview of the dynamic models of the elements that affect the system stability and following types of stability:

  • Transient stability
  • Oscillatory stability
  • Voltage stability
  • Frequency stability

Each of the topics includes a theoretical background and a practical part, allowing participants to get hands-on experience in using PowerFactory.

Important hint: This training will be held for PowerFactory 2025. Older versions may have a different structure in the menus or do not yet have some of the functions presented.

Licence and Material

A PowerFactory licence for the duration of the Online training course is included in this course and will be delivered a week before the first day of the training together with the training material that consists of presentations, exercises and example projects via mail. Additionally, a link is provided to download and install PowerFactory locally. An installed instance of PowerFactory in the version specified on the description page is required to participate in the training.

The training is held in Zoom.

Target Audience

The course is intended for utility engineers, power system operators, project developers, manufacturers, consultants and electrical engineers in general, interested in stability analysis of networks.
