Full training program: PDF with Training Content

This training provides participants with an introduction to the basic handling and calculation functions of PowerFactory.

It starts with an introduction to the user interface and the structure of the database in PowerFactory.

Once the participant is familiar with modelling concept in an existing project, a new project is prepared, learning the handling and basics for modelling a network.

This is followed by a load flow calculation to analyse the network. Any voltage issues that arise are addressed by applying different control strategies.

The short-circuit current calculation, based on IEC 60909, includes calculations of typical three-phase and single-phase faults at various locations. This allows for the evaluation of equipment short-circuit ratings as well as different earthing concepts.

An introduction to the tools used for network planning and operation is also included. These tools make it possible to plan future expansion scenarios and perform calculations on the same network under different operating conditions.

The training concludes with additional information about the base package, along with tips and tricks for working efficiently with PowerFactory.

Important hint: This training will be held for PowerFactory 2025. Older versions may have a different structure in the menus or do not yet have some of the functions presented. The PowerFactory exercise projects provided in the training were created with PowerFactory 2025 and cannot be imported with older versions.

Licence and Material

A PowerFactory licence for the duration of the Online training course is included in this course and will be delivered a week before the first day of the training together with the training material that consists of presentations, exercises and example projects via mail. Additionally, a link is provided to download and install PowerFactory locally. An installed instance of PowerFactory in the version specified on the description page is required to participate in the training.

The training is held in Zoom.

Target Audience

The course is intended for utility engineers, power system operators, project developers, manufacturers, consultants and electrical engineers in general, interested in PowerFactory.
